Nutrition for Your Stress Response

Stress comes in a variety of forms, including poor diet, unhealthy lifestyle habits, relationships, overwork, hidden infections, toxins, and more. You are subjected to physical, mental, emotional, and environmental stress – sometimes all at once! This accumulation of chronic stress takes a toll on your overall health, manifesting in common symptoms like fatigue and brain fog, while also leading to a variety of degenerative diseases.

Supplement for Adrenal Fatigue Relief

Your body’s stress response relies on the integrity of the connection between your brain and endocrine organs, known as the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. The HPA axis has a profound effect on your total health, with hormonal activities impacting every cell in your body. Your adrenal glands are walnut-sized organs behind your kidneys that release hormones like cortisol and DHEA to deal with every kind of stress. The adrenal glands can only do so much on their own. Help them thrive with a formula that has been trusted by thousands of doctors around the world.

Support Adrenals is popular with health enthusiasts seeking relief from the effects of stress, fatigue, anxiety, hormone imbalances, chronic illness, malnutrition, alcoholism, and much more. †

The Support Adrenals Edge

Support Adrenals is a synergy of B vitamins, bioflavonoids, adaptogens, and small amounts of steroidal hormones. B vitamins are key activators of thousands of physiological reactions that keep you healthy. Adaptogens protect your adrenal glands from the high demands caused by stress. Bioflavonoids act as antioxidants and are especially beneficial to adrenal gland tissues, while also optimizing vitamin C actions. Small amounts of steroidal hormones – DHEA and pregnenolone are included to help facilitate the actions of the HPA axis. BioMatrix also has specific products to help with hormone balance and adaptogen health. †

FAQ: Support Adrenals

Does the color of the powder vary from batch to batch?

The color of the B vitamins in Support Adrenals may have some variance from lot to lot but the formulation details are the same.

Will this cause a niacin flush?

Only in sensitive individuals, or if you exceed the suggested use for dosages. Our 35 mg per serving of niacinimide tends to be well tolerated. It is recommended that patients sensitive to niacin take the capsules with food and/or take 1 capsule 3-4 times a day.

Does Support Adrenals contain animal glandulars?

No. Support Adrenals combines key levels of vitamins with adaptogens and bioflavonoids.

Why does this contain DHEA and pregnenolone?

We added very small amounts of these bioidentical hormones to the formula to provide a very subtle stimulation of the HPA axis functions.

Science-Based Ingredients

  • B Vitamins– Since these vitamins are water-soluble, they are not stored within your body and must be restored through your diet.
    • Thiamine (Vitamin B1) – This vitamin is crucial for brain health and energy metabolism. Thiamine serves as a vital cofactor for 5 enzymes that catalyze the breakdown of carbohydrates, lipids, and amino acids [1]. Since an imbalance in glucose metabolism can further exacerbate adrenal exhaustion, it is crucial to replenish your thiamine stores.
    • Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) – This vitamin is essential to the production of ATP, the body’s main energy molecule that carries out all functions of life. Riboflavin’s role is as an integral component of the cofactors that directly create ATP within the mitochondria (the home of energy production) [2]. Riboflavin also stimulates cells in the adrenal glands and enhances function, especially in combination with vitamin C.
    • Niacin (Vitamin B3) – This vitamin is necessary to form the coenzymes that control the adrenal cascade [3]. Niacin also supports heart health by balancing cholesterol levels and enhances detoxification by promoting the breakdown of cells that harbor harmful toxins [4].
    • Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5) – Essential to energy release, red blood cell health, and cholesterol production, adequate stores of vitamin B5 help to support overall health [5]. The adrenal glands contain large stores of vitamin B5 since hormone production requires immense energy usage [3].
    • Vitamin B6 – By supporting carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism, vitamin B6 supports your energy levels [3]. Vitamin B6 is also highly involved in hemoglobin production, inflammation, and the production of mood hormones like serotonin, dopamine, and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) [6].
    • Biotin (Vitamin B7) – This pivotal vitamin is not produced by your body and must be obtained from your diet. It helps to create glucose from other molecules and is involved in the synthesis of enzymes that speed up carbohydrate and fat metabolism [3].
    • Folate (Vitamin B9) – This vitamin is the workhorse for several metabolic pathways and nerve development. As an integral component of a metabolic coenzyme called tetrahydrofolic acid, folate supports amino acid metabolism. In states of adrenal stress, your body creates fewer catecholamines, which are hormones like dopamine, epinephrine, and norepinephrine. Too little of these hormones can leave you feeling exhausted and suboptimal.
    • Vitamin B12 – Essential for nerve health, red blood cell health, and metabolism, vitamin B12 is responsible for a myriad of health benefits [7]. In states of adrenal stress, your body requires more folate and vitamin B12 to speed up a biochemical process known as methylation, which creates new, healthy cells [8].
  • Adaptogens
    • Choline & Inositol – These powerful compounds are found in all healthy cell membranes. They support synaptic transmission through nerves and optimize fatty acid metabolism [9]. Choline is a precursor to acetylcholine, the main neurotransmitter that powers cognitive performance and supports memory and mood.
    • Zinc & Copper – Zinc supports the stabilization of cortisol levels and may help to defend against spikes in cortisol levels in acute states of adrenal stress [10]. Unfortunately, zinc stores become depleted in chronic stress. The inclusion of copper helps to balance zinc levels within the body and helps to form the complexes that create vital neurotransmitters within the nervous system [11].
    • Para-Aminobenzoic Acid (PABA) – As a member of the B complex family of vitamins, PABA supports the production of stable energy levels [12]. It also acts as an antioxidant to increase tissue oxygenation and support DNA repair, mood hormone production, and skin health.
    • Eleuthero Root Extract – Native to the mountainous terrains of Northwestern Asia, Eleuthera extract is also known as Siberian ginseng. Used for thousands of years in Eastern medicine, this extract is an adaptogen that helps the body better adapt to stress [13]. Eleuthero is rich in eleutherosides, compounds that support the adrenal cortex’s response to stress and balance epinephrine, norepinephrine, dopamine, and serotonin levels.
    • Rosemary Leaf Extract – Native to the rocky coastal regions of the Mediterranean, Rosemary has been used for thousands of years to support digestion, circulation, and inflammatory responses. Rosemary may support calm states by regulating cortisol balance. This extract may also support defense against the breakdown of one of the most important brain neurotransmitters, acetylcholine [14].
  • Vitamin C – Also known as ascorbic acid, vitamin C is fortified with a blend of complementary bioflavonoids that enhances absorption. This unique form of vitamin C also supports the synthesis of catecholamines and steroid hormones [15].
  • Bioflavonoid Blend
    • Citrus Bioflavonoid Peel Complex Powder – Enriched with a broad-spectrum blend of bioflavonoids derived from multiple citrus peel sources, this formula exhibits potent antioxidant properties that support immunity, blood sugar balance, and brain health [16].
    • Hesperidin Methyl Chalcone & Naringin – Hesperidin is an antioxidant bioflavonoid that is highly concentrated within the pith of citrus peels. Similarly, naringin is a bioflavonoid glycoside that is found within the skin of grapefruit peels [17]. Together, these two powerful bioflavonoids support the functions of vitamin C and promote blood sugar control.
    • Rutin – This citrus-derived bioflavonoid is well known for supporting antioxidants and collagen synthesis. As an antioxidant, rutin supports defenses against harmful oxygen radicals and enhances inflammatory balance. These functions are crucial for optimal glucose control and HPA axis balance [18].
  • Trace Steroidal Hormones
    • Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) – As the most common sex hormone in the body, DHEA is transformed into androgens and estrogens [19]. Since the adrenal glands are the main “factory” for these reactions, optimal DHEA levels are needed to maintain levels of these reproductive hormones.
    • Pregnenolone – Adrenal dysfunction impairs the adrenal gland’s ability to synthesize crucial sex, salt-regulating, and glycemic control hormones. Pregnenolone is a precursor in the adrenal cascade that creates these hormones. Low doses of pregnenolone can support the stimulation of the adrenal pathways and ultimately support energy, cognition, and blood sugar regulation [20,21].
